Offshore fleet to slash emissions by up to 10%

Marseille-based Opsealog, a data integration and energy analysis firm, has been hired on a two-year contract by Azule Energy, Angola’s largest independent energy company. Opsealog will collect vessel data from the Angolan company’s 33-ship offshore supply fleet with the aim of achieving emissions savings of up to 10%.

Covering 28 vessels in the first year before expanding to the full fleet in 2025, Opsealog will use its e-reporting system, Streamlog, to digitalise reporting procedures from the vessels and provide real-time tracking information on their location across three offshore oil blocks. The data will then be integrated and analysed using the company’s Marinsights platform to improve efficiency, reduce fuel burn and emissions, and maximise safety and reliability.

The analysis is likely to limit the need for offshore vessels to move urgently between the blocks. It will use data-driven insights to develop a cost allocation per block, optimising vessel scheduling thereby cutting emissions.

Opsealog International business manager, Luis Buezas Jiménez, explained: “Through enhanced data collection and integration, teams will be equipped with data-driven insights to immediately improve operational efficiency and reduce harmful emissions. We are proud to embark on this project and support Azule Energy’s ambitions of delivering responsible energy development for the communities of Angola.”
