The newbuilding, the third in a series of four, was built at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) yard in Ulsan, South Korea. It joins its sister ships Rowan Renaissance and Rowan Resolute.
The DP3 vessel has a maximum hook-load capacity of 1,250 tonnes. It is equipped with three 100-tonne knuckle boom cranes and one active heave-compensated 165-tonne crane for simultaneous deployment of subsea equipment. Rowan Reliance has a variable deck load capacity of 20,000 tonnes and offers accommodations for 210 people. The final vessel, the Rowan Relentless will also be built at HHI with its delivery scheduled for the second quarter of 2015.
