Hapag-Lloyd AG, one of the world’s largest container lines, and terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) are to continue their existing agreement to collaborate for another five years, the companies have announced.

This will provide a secure basis for new investments, including cooperation on sustainability-related issues such as steps to reduce emissions in the Port of Hamburg and to expand hinterland connections.

The two companies’ CEOs, Angela Titzrath of HHLA and Rolf Habben Jansen of Hapag-Lloyd, issued a joint statement. “We are very pleased to be able to continue our longstanding, trusting and intensive collaboration,” they said. “As a result, the Port of Hamburg is and will remain a maritime hub of high importance to global logistics flows.”
