Rick Boom, director Product Management – Engine Systems and general manager at Woodward, has been elected the new president of CIMAC. Traditionally, this was made public during the CIMAC World Congress, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in Busan, South Korea.

Boom succeeds Professor Jin, Donghan who, as past president, remains member of the Board. Further members of the Board were also announced during the closing Gala Dinner on the last day of the Congress.

This year’s event attracted more than 700 experts from all over the world, discussing the latest in combustion engine technology. The two dominating topics were developments in the fields of decarbonisation and digitalisation. In his closing remarks, Congress president Kwang Hean An mentioned that this year's congress has been particularly exciting, with some of the most visible advancements in the field of renewable fuels, increased digitalisation, and a strong focus on reducing carbon footprint.

As the organisers return to the traditional time scheme after the postponement forced by the Covid-19 pandemic, the next CIMAC Congress will already take place in two years. Zurich, Switzerland, will host the Congress from May 19th to 23rd, 2025.
