“DCI Dredge XIX” launched
The newbuilding has a length of 114m, a breadth of 21.3m and a draught of 6.5m. With a hopper capacity of 5,500m3, the TSHD can dredge to a depth of up to 25m. Each suction pipe has a diameter of 700mm. 35 people can be deployed on board the newbuilding. The vessel will be deployed amongst others for the maintenance dredging project on the Hooghly River, which is a tributary of the Ganges River in West Bengal. According to IHC Dredgers, the “DCI Dredge XIX” is specially designed for these tasks, taking into account the Hooghly River’s soil properties, strong current and shallow depth.
The “DCI Dredge XIX” is the first vessel of a series of three newbuildings and will be built under dual class (Lloyd’s Register and Indian Register of Shipping).
The dredger is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2012.
