MISC takes delivery of fourth new LNG carrier
The vessel was delivered at a naming ceremony held in the shipbuilder’s Ulsan facility in South Korea. Like its three sister vessels, the Seri Camar will be deployed on long-term charter to Petronas.
The vessels are designed with an Integrated Hull Structure which provides a continuous cover over their four spherical cargo tanks. This provides greater protection in harsh marine environments and affords MISC more flexibility in ship deployment. The ships can call at more than 80 LNG receiving terminals and at least 26 liquefaction terminals. They can also undertake cargo operations at floating LNG facilities.
The ships have been designed to minimise hull resistance and maximise propulsion efficiency. This has been achieved with various energy-saving devices including a pre-swirl duct and propeller boss cap fins, and an X-twister rudder for improved manoeuvring. The LNG carriers have been awarded Green Passport Notation and can operate entirely on LNG, ensuring full compliance with sulphur emissions control area regulations.
MISC now operates a fleet of 28 LNG carriers.
