New ferry for Balearia

Thus, in just one year, Baleària has added three next generation ships, whereas the last of the series - the "Abel Matutes" - is currently being built at the HJ Barreras Shipyard in Vigo.
 
"Alhucemas", which has a capacity for 1,000 people, will begin operating on the Denia-Ibiza-Palma route. This model is very similar to the "Martín i Soler" (the first of the ferries+ navigating since January 2009 on the Valencia-Ibiza-Palma line), but of a smaller size as it is 154 metres long with a beam of 24 metres.  The new Baleària+ series ships are of note mainly due to their sustainability as well as the passenger comfort-oriented design and services. Another of their outstanding characteristics is the navigation speed (23 knots in the case of the "Alhucemas"), which is faster than traditional ferries, with the added advantage that they consume less fuel and reduce C02 emissions.  The "Alhucemas" is equipped with two diesel engines capable of generating maximum power of 9,000 kW each. Moreover, the technical innovations incorporated allow for more pleasant journeys even in adverse weather conditions.
 
The "Alhucemas" features 56 two or four passenger cabins with a minimalist design, equipped with full baths as well as extra-relax (leather, ergonomic and fully reclining) seats. As far as the onboard services concerns, the ship houses a hamburger restaurant, a tapas and beer bar, a self-service restaurant and a pizza restaurant. Passengers may enjoy the ice-cream shop and pool on the outdoor decks in the summer months.
