Alabama Shipyard wins USD 11.4 million refit contract for work on USNS Kanawha

Alabama Shipyard to undertake the 106-day refit of USNS Kanawha (Source: MSC)

Prior to joining the US Navy’s 5th Fleet for operations in and around the Red Sea, the Military Sealift Command (MSC)-operated fleet replenishment tanker USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196) will undergo a 106-day shipyard availability for mid-term availability under a fixed-price contract worth USD 11.4 million.

Work on the ship is scheduled to begin in Mobile on 31 August and be completed by 14 December this year. The USNS Kanawha is the tenth ship of the Henry J. Kaiser-class owned by the US Navy and operated by MSC.
