Busy Christmas and New Year period at Poland’s Remontowa Shiprepair

One of northern Europe’s leading ship repair yards is Poland’s Remontowa Shiprepair, based in the port of Gdansk. Over the Christmas New Year period this yard was kept busy working on nine vessels, including three RoPax ferries and one cruise vessel. The vessels in question were as follows:

  • Pont-Aven – 40,859 gt 2004-built ropax ferry, owned by France’s Brittany Ferries
  • Finnstar – 45,923 gt 2006-built ropax ferry, owned by Finland’s Finnlines, a subsidiary of Italy’s Grimaldi Group
  • RS Sentinel – 1,722 gt 1971-built research/survey vessel, owned by Germany’s RS Sentinel Shipping, Hamburg
  • Amera – 39,051 gt 1988-built cruise vessel, owned by Germany’s Phoenix
  • Reisen
  • Marco Polo – 15,955 gt 1993-built ropax ferry, owned by Germany’s TT-Line
  • Kitikmeot W – 19,983 dwt 2010-built chemical tanker, owned by
  • Canada’s Coastal Shipping Ltd, Goose Bay, Newfoundland
  • Guardians (ex Shin’i) – 5,527 dwt 1998-built chemical tanker. New owners not known
  • Kapitan Poinc – 1,347 gt 1993 tug, owned by Poland’s Morska Sluzba Poszukiwania, Gdynia
  • Boka Ocean – 10,692 gt 2009-built offshore pipe laying vessel, owned by Holland’s Boskalis, Papendrecht
  • Ocean Vantage - 2,353 dwt 1985-built OSV geotechnical vessel, owned by Holland’s Boskalis, Papendrecht
