Leading cruise ship operator Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has entered into a service partnership agreement with marine propulsion specialist ABB to accelerate the decarbonisation and digitalisation of its cruise vessel fleet. NCLH operates three wholly owned cruise line subsidiaries, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Targeting increased safety and efficiency, the new agreement covers 14 existing cruise vessels and a further four newbuildings, which are scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2028.

The first phase of the partnership includes a ten-year Azipod propulsion service agreement for the fleet, providing efficient preventive maintenance to support safety and maximise vessel availability, as well as a fast turnaround for planned Azipod maintenance. In addition, ABB will supply modernisation of the propulsion control systems for eleven vessels and shore power connection in four vessels.
