Following the announcement recently by the world’s largest cruise vessel operator Carnival Corp that it was to merge P&O Cruises Australia with Carnival Cruise Line (CCL), the decision has been made to carry out major technology upgrades on the two sister ships Pacific Adventure, 108,265gt built 2001 and the 108,997gt 2002-built Pacific Encounter before they join the CCL fleet in March 2025.

No shipyard has yet been named to carry out this work, which is expected to take two weeks on each vessel. In the past, P&O Cruises Australia has traditionally repaired their vessels at shipyards in Singapore.

Both Pacific Adventure (ex Golden Princess) and Pacific Encounter (ex Star Princess) will continue to operate cruises out of Australian ports after they join the fleet of CCL
