DDW-Dubai upgrades its propeller repair facilities

Leading Arabian Gulf ship repair and conversion specialist Drydock World Dubai (DDW-Dubai) has upgraded its propeller repair services. The yard’s in-situ and in-workshop offerings have been expanded with enhanced fabrication, laser pitch checking and blade profiling competencies.
DDW-Dubai can now carry out in-situ minor damages to vessels without removing the propeller. For more extensive repairs, the yard’s workshops contain an additional propeller repair area with a propeller pit for work.
Fabrication of parts is carried out on site with the provision of nickel aluminium bronze alloys, and available repair techniques include laser pitch checking and blade profiling.
The Dubai repairer has carried out over 20 fixed-pitch propeller repairs and 50 controllable pitch propeller repairs over the past two years.
Meanwhile, DDW-Dubai has also invested in a new cryogenic pipe shop, a CNC gasket manufacturing facility and a new CNC plate cutting facility. The cryogenic pipe shop contains advanced welding and fabrication tools for pipe fabrication as well as fabrication to support vessels from the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors. The new CNC plate cutting facility is equipped with machines for enhanced plasma cutting, bevelling and oxyfuel cutting.
