Drydocks World (DDW) has secured a contract from Modec Management Services Pte Ltd for the refurbishment and life extension of the FPSO Baobab Ivoirien.

The project, set to begin in May 2025, will last eight months and includes extensive structural enhancements such as 1,000 tonnes of steel renewal, 250,000m2 of tank coating, and 11,500m of new piping. The vessel’s crew living quarters will also be upgraded, and advanced technologies integrated to improve efficiency and reliability.

Once completed, the FPSO’s lifespan will be extended by 15 years, ensuring continued energy production for West Africa. The vessel, which operates at the Baobab oil field, 25km off Côte d'Ivoire’s coast, will relocate to DDW’s Dubai facility for refurbishment.

FPSO Baobab Ivoirien has a processing capacity of 70,000 barrels of oil per day, and the ability to store two million barrels of crude.

“Signing this agreement with MODEC highlights our expertise in complex FPSO refurbishment and life extension projects,” said DDW CEO Rado Antolovic. “Our proven track record in executing large-scale offshore engineering works positions us as the ideal partner to enhance the vessel’s longevity, efficiency, and operational safety. We are proud to support MODEC in ensuring the long-term efficiency and reliability of its FPSO.”
