The Bonn-based, German cruise operator Phoenix Reisen’s two vessels Amadea and Deutschland are now back in service following scheduled drydocking in shipyards in Bremerhaven.

The 29,008gt 19912-built Amadea was drydocked at Lloyd Werft, while the 22,496gt 1998-built Deutschland, which also operates as the World Odyssey sometimes throughout the year, was worked on by nearby Bredo Dry Docks.

A total of EUR 20 million was spent on both vessels, split between technical upgrades and enhancements to cabins and public spaces.

In addition to the general overhaul of the main engines and machinery on board Amadea, Lloyd Werft also fitted a new exhaust system, new fresh water piping and a second reverse osmosis fresh water product plant.

All cabins and junior suites on board Amadea were redesigned, while new windows and air-conditioning systems were installed in the spa area. The vessel also received a new 42-seat alternative dining venue, Pitchlers, on Deck 8.

Meanwhile, work on Deutschland included a new exterior paint job, and her original outside teak decks restored. The vessel also received a new environmentally friendly underwater hull coating.
