The performance of Danish marine coatings specialist Hempel’s silicone-based hull coating Hempaguard X7 and its ability to accelerate decarbonisation effects in the shipping industry are now third-party validated by classification society DNV.

According to Hempel, external validation by DNV allows it to better demonstrate the value of Hempaguard X7 to its customers, including energy efficiency gains and carbon emission reductions.

DNV’s validation objectively confirms Hempaguard X7’s performance when it comes to the reduction of CO2 emissions from the shipping industry. In addition, fuel savings of up to 20% and average speed loss of 1.4% have been validated by DNV.
