The hull of Prysmian’s state-of-the-art new cable layer Monna Lisa has arrived undertow in Norway from Romania for final outfitting and completion. The vessel is being built by Vard, the hull end superstructure at its yard in Tulcea, Romania, with final outfitting at its yard in Søvik, Norway.

The tow from Romania to Norway was over 4,000 nautical miles and took 28 days to complete.

Monna Lisa will now be fitted with mission-important systems and equipment and final outfitting work, before becoming fully operational in 2025.

The 171m-long cable laying vessel will boast two cable carousals, 7,000 tons and 10,000 tons, the largest capacity currently in the industry, and will significantly shorten the time of transportation from the cable factories to the installation sites.
