Las Palmas-based Astican busy with nine vessels

The Canary Islands-based ship repairer Astilleros Canarios (Astican) was busy repairing a mixed variety of vessels at its Syncrolift-equipped shiplift and transfer system within the port of Las Palmas on February 22nd. Vessels undergoing repair included:

  • Geoquip Saentis – 3,500dwt 2005-built MPSV, owned by Switzerland’s Geoequip Marine, Gallen
  • VOS Prime – 3,828dwt 2015-built PSV, owned by Vroon Offshore Services UK, Aberdeen
  • Nipayia – 19,997dwt 2009-built chemical tanker, owned by Innovation Carriers Corp and managed by Greece’s Lotus Shipping Co Ltd, Athens
  • Skandi Kvitsoy – 4,700dwt 2012-built PSV, owned by Norway’s DOF Subsea, Bergen
  • POSH Osprey – 3,513gt 2014-built AHT/supply vessel, owned by Singapore’s POSH Project Pte Ltd
  • Bencomo Express – Incat 96m wave-piercing catamaran high-speed ferry, owned by Spain’s Fred Olsen Express
  • Fugro Resolve – 3,956dwt 2015-built PSV, owned by Holland’s Fugro Offshore, Leidschendam, recently converted in Norway into a geotechnical drilling support vessel, for operation in the offshore wind farm sector
  • Atlantic Orion – 4,042gt 1988-built trawler, owned by Russia’s Interacco, Moscow
  • Ocean Venture – 1,632gt 2003-built trawler, owned by the UK’s Mewstead, Aberdeen

Meanwhile, undergoing drydocking and repair at sister yard Astander in Santander, northern Spain, on February 22nd was the 1,350m3 capacity TSHD Medway, owned by Holland’s Boskalis Westminster Dredging.
