London-based LNG carrier operator Cool Co Ltd (CoolCo) is to retrofit one vessel in its fleet with a hull air lubrication system designed and supplied by Armada Technologies.

The unnamed vessel will be fitted with the hull air lubrication system during a scheduled drydocking this year.

Under the contract, Armada will design, engineer, procure and provide support for the installation and commissioning of its air lubrication system on the vessel.

Once commissioned, CoolCo will conduct sea trials and provide documentation to Armada, to measure the systems performance.

The unnamed LNG carrier will be fitted with Armada’s PALS advanced passive air lubrication system, which utilises tailored bubble production design for each ship’s characteristics, including speed, draught and weather conditions, and eliminates the need for continuously running compressors.

CoolCo operates a fleet of nine LNG carriers in sizes between 162,000m3 capacity and 174,000m3 capacity, built between 2015 and 2024.
