MAN Energy Solutions has opened its largest repair and service centre outside of Europe in Singapore’s ship repair hub of Tuas. The EUR 20 million (USD 30 million) investment will include a new MAN PrimeServ training centre for customers and employees, a logistics centre to serve as the warehouse for spare parts for Asia and a PrimeServ workshop to provide maintenance and repair services, including MAN Energy Solutions’ alternative fuel engines.

The new Tuas facility has over 9,000m2 of floor space and MAN expects to significantly increase staff from 250 to 400 people by 2027.

The new Singapore service centre will allow ship managers to gain round-the-clock access to technical services, products such as repair and maintenance for the company’s alternative fuel, two-stroke engines, reduced turnaround times for ships due to quicker access to spare parts, and provide training for seafarers on the safe operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of all MAN Energy Solutions equipment.

The new facility will also be timely to cater to the demand for repairs, maintenance and training for MAN’s new alternative fuel engines, such as the two-stroke methanol dual-fuel engines that are already available and for the two-stroke ammonia dual-fuel engines that are currently undergoing development.

MAN Energy Solutions has been a long-term partner with Singapore’s maritime industries, having started operations in the Lion Republic in 1977.
