Navantia continues its LNG repair focus
Amid a diverse range of vessels docked recently at Spanish shipyard group, Navantia, are three LNG carriers as modifications and life extension works continue on two floating storage regasification units (FSRU).
The Knutsen-owned Cadiz Knutsen, built in 2004, completed repairs at the Navantia Cadiz yard. These included special surface treatment work, the yard said. Meanwhile, BW Fleet Management’s Berge Arzew, also built in 2004, also completed repairs and is now back at sea.
In the group’s Ferrol Estuary facility, the 2019-built Gaslog Warsaw entered drydock number three in late July to complete its repair docking.
Two FSRUs are also moored alongside in the Ferrol yard. The FSRU Excelsior is likely to remain there until the third quarter of the year, having undertaken major modification works adapting the vessel for its FSRU function since late last year.
Life extension works continue, meanwhile, on the FSRU Energos Freeze. This vessel is also being adapted for deployment as a FSRU for charterer, New Fortress Energy.
Other ships docked recently at Navantia facilities include two chemical/oil products tankers, two container ships, two tugs, a cruise ferry and a fast ferry, a tanker and an offshore wind carrier.
