Ørskov Yard, a prominent ship repair and conversion facility, recently welcomed the ferry M/F Ane Læsø for its 30-year class renewal docking, marking a full-circle moment for the yard. Originally built as Vesborg in 1995, the vessel was delivered by Ørskov Christensens Stålskibsværft to Samsø-Linien A/S.

The yard’s project manager, Casper Schmidt-Olsen, who worked on the ferry’s original construction, oversaw its return for maintenance.

Ørskov Yard, which has evolved from a newbuilding yard to a specialist in repairs, constructed over 200 vessels since its founding in 1958. The yard has expanded its capabilities with the introduction of a new 60t rail-mounted tower crane, set to enhance operational efficiency at its Dock 5 area.

The crane, which has a height of 78.1m and a 63.4-m reach, will replace older mobile cranes, offering increased flexibility and environmental benefits with its electric power. Additionally, the yard’s recent acquisition of Jeppe Ørskov Pier further strengthens its infrastructure, with deeper waters and upgraded shore power, supporting the facility's growing demand for ship maintenance. Last year, over 100 vessels docked at Ørskov Yard for refits and repairs.
